Day 3: I have sucessfully dealt with the issue I will only refer to as "butt gun syndrome".
Aiming is sorted, ammunition is sorted, stats are sorted, just need to fix a few faulty rotations and it's good to go:

People have been saying KSP 1.0 is not conducive to SSTO's anymore. They're hard. I learned that.
But, through effort, I managed to get a small plane into orbit with one nuke engine and 2 rapiers. Huzzah.

It can shoot, but there's some issues in converting the model, the texture gets somewhat fucked up.
There is a hole textured, but it doesn't like to show up -.-
EDIT: nvm, I can literally just merge the parts and extrude a hole in them.
