Domain Name

The current domain is futurecraftforums.tk

This is a point of contrition for some, as the tk domain can sometimes fail to work in certain countries, and a point of paranoia for me as they have a reputation of seizing domains that attract a certain amount of hits and holding them hostage until they're paid for. And as all of you well know, when the mod eventually comes out that might pose a pretty significant problem.

So. I'm getting a debit card that will be here by the time of the webhost's next invoice. I'd like community input on what name sounds the best so I can register it when I go to pay that off.

What's taken:

Futurecraft.com/net/org/info (some maggot's squatting on it, heaven knows why.)

fcmod.com (Fort Collins Museum of Discovery...go figure)

fcforum.com/net/org (another squatter)

fcforums.com (moar squat.. the .net is available though, and if we can't decide that's what I'm getting)

fc.com/net/org (turns out 2 letter domain names are pretty valuable. Their site looks ugly though :x)

Our options here are .com, .net, and .co

Anything else is too obscure. Also keep in mind that it has to be short, for the sake of convenience (futurecraft.forumotion.com was such a pain in the ass to type out it's not even funny). Keep your suggestions as short as possible. I reserve the right to delete any posts and issue warnings for offtopic. Keep it clean.

FuturecraftMod? We discussed that one too.

True, but it was a quick convo on the server; never really came to a consensus before it devolved into owl stuff.

And I'd prefer to keep mod out of the name if it's all the same to you.

Mackeroth'sFC.net
As far as I know, .com is pretty expensive...

No apostrophes in domain names, if I remember right.

And .com/.net/.org are fairly closely matched in price on the provider I'm looking at. It mostly depends on the name itself.

.ca also works very well, it's not really an obscure domain name because of ebay and it shouldn't be too expensive. .us is another option.

I don't mind the .tk domain. I strongly doubt we ever get so big they try to take it back.

I feel unsave with a .tk site.

I would prefer to have a nice looking .tk domain than a dumb looking late-to-the-party .com or .net domain.

And on the off-chance they do want money, I doubt it would be anywhere as much as a squatter would demand.

If they do want money, it'd be for a .tk domain instead of a .com or .net

Better to just make the investment now on a quality domain name than wait until dot.tk decides they need to charge me for it. Could get futurecraftforums.com or something like that, though I have to say I prefer fcforums for the sake of length.

If we are doing an official name, I would like to get the game servers under the same domain. The forums would likely become a subdomain.

True.

Would need a dedicated server for that as opposed to shared hosting. But we can always adjust the domain's DNS zoning and set up subs when FC reaches that phase of development. For now it'd be easier to set up an official name and use that in the interim so there isn't mass confusion when that occurs (tk most definitely will not suffice for game connections on this level, too much stress).

That'd also mean that the domain can't have 'forums' in the name. Problematic.

edit: fcmod.net is available

I don't mind fcmod, but is there anything half decent with the full name? I'd prefer we weren't hogging the whole FC acronym.
