The word filter is in place to accomodate those who can't or simply don't wish to view profane language have the option of not doing so. It is enabled by default, swear words will be reduced to more mild terminology while it is in effect. To disable the word filter,

1. Go to the upper left of the forum in your browser window and click on 'User Control Panel'

2. Once there, go to 'Board Preferences', then to 'Edit Display Options'.

3. You should see an option (if you have 5 posts or more) called "Enable Word Censor" with two bubbles. The 'yes' option is preselected.

4. Click on 'no' and then hit the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the page.

You should now be able to view posts without the profanity removed.

From the other thread

If I do that, I'll have no way of knowing when I'm writing a blocked word, and there's more than just profanity in block list (for instance, "fitting"). During the whole sphere/cube debate, it kept changing the word "block" to sphere, and I had to screw with the spelling every time or nothing would any sense.

Assuming this censor thing remains default, it stands to reason most people aren't going to change it, or likely even know about the option. It does me no good to be able to see a censored word if the other people reading my posts cannot.

There is literally nothing that is not generally considered a profane term in the censor list now.

Even on the old forums that was considered an offense. What with the whole excitement about fairness and equality over in the judicial section, it would be ideal to hold those who have power to the same standards.

Fitting

Literally nothing but profanity, huh?
Well, I suppose it depends on what is fitting into what...

Indeed.

Jedi told me of that yesterday, didn't really look at it until now.

I'm pretty sure the disablement is just for the people who turn it off, everyone else still sees a censor.

I know, but jokes are meant to be interpreted in certain ways. Clearly my joke was poorly made, as the meaning was lost upon you, and most likely lots of other people.

N-azi is censored. That could be offensive to the Fascists. Please remove the n-azi censor, lest you become a n-azi.
