Neither of those posts make any sense what-so-ever. Fr0stbyte contradicted himself, and Tell answered a question that doesn't exist.....?

I did not contradict myself. I'll draw a diagram after I've gotten some sleep.

I cannot say how much I do not want space travel in futurecraft to be like the realistic space travel of KSP. I will not go threw 10 minutes of matching someones orbit and changing speeds and angle and what not every time I want to fight someone or dock with a station.
Throw the commies in the drink so my country can be free!

Simple Solution:
When you come withing distance Y of a planet, you enter "geostationary" orbit. You stay over the same spot on the planet, provided you don't fire engines.

When you come closer, within distance X, you enter low orbit. You move over the planet's surface, but are closer.

Complex solution:

Delta-V, orbital parameters, orbital periods, eccentricity, inclination, timed burns, fuel. 'Nuff said?

Since we are doing interterrestrial travel, we have to assume we are not fuel or power limited like KSP. As such, I think it should be fine to just muscle our way into proper orbits and let the computer worry about the proper velocities. If you want to match something else's trajectory, just select the target and hit the match trajectory button, and from your perspective the other object will become stationary.

Something like that.

and would it be possible to push other objects
like a meteor behind a engine would be pushed away

and will there be diffrent amounts of gravity

Given that we're using brute-force technology, gravity doesn't matter, 'cause it's just a tad more engine output.

And pushing stuff away with engines depends on the type of engine. Gravity drives will pull other objects along with you, magnetic drives might, reaction drives will push away and impulse-induction-uber-handwavium drives won't do anything.

Great. Except none of our engines will work like that. Except for the gravity-drive, which is an end-game engine.

So we use handwavium drives?

We can still use rocket propulsion if we want. I'm not sure how it is supposed to get up to .25C scale speed, but we can certainly try.

can you shoot things like asteroids
making an asteroid cannon would be coool

also one of my vessels doesnt have much of an engine of its own it has to be shot to the target

I wave my hands, ergo it works. Handwavium.

The empire demands faster ships! Millions of slaves to wave hands for the handwavium drives! FOR THE EMPEROR!
