The Surpreme Grandmaster suggested reactivating the foreign intelligence division of the Equestrian Intelligence Network that has been shut down 30 years ago after the galactic civil war.
Members of the military, however, demand it not be done. "Without the connections we had back in the day we won't be able to achieve nearly as much, we don't have the capabilities of reopening them and we can't rebuild them after the SGM has publically announced those plans to anyone. The Codice will be very watchful now, so I don't expect we will find back to our former capabilities in the next 20 years."
There you have it, not even the military itself believes that really was a good idea. Some members of the High Council have even threatened to use impeachment if it was needed to stop the plan.

The Hierarch today delivered the yearly Intelligence Report to the Security Council. Excerpts from Varus' speech follow;

"No evidence has been brought forth that suggests a sophisticated and organized enemy network is operating within our borders," the Hierarch stated at the beginning.

"Although attempts have been made on sensitive data... none were from organized forces. All agents belonged to small splinter factions with no political sway."

"We will remain diligent and continue to watch for new threats."

Critics have already attacked the Hierarch's speech, such as the famed revolutionist Duran Bach, who called the speech "damage-control," referring to the massive industrial accident that occurred on one of the primary Pylons around Boron. Many have suggested it to be the work of sabotage.

In three weeks time, the 150-year time period for Classified reports will pass, and a multitude of previously-unknown documents will be released to the public. Among these is the much-debated Lambda Leonis report, which occurred 154 years ago. Many believe that the final report will disclose new information about the events that occurred at Lambda Leonis after the Ion Cloud cut it off from the outside world.

In an unexpected move, the Head of the Security Council, Korul Barkus, has sent a small fleet to the recently-discovered world of Cyyliir-IV. In an official statement, Korul stated that proper Perfectum Codice quarantine measures were not taken to ensure that the planet would cause no pandemics among the civilized empires of the sector. As the planet was given to a nearly-extinct faction known only as the Republic of Acheron, the planet is expected to be quarantined for weeks or months until research teams can verify that the planet is safe for colonization. Until that time, entry to the planet will be strictly controlled, and unauthorized ships will be barred access.

The public call for a vote to select a new financial advisor for the high council. Most of the want-to-be voters don't like the way is handling our economy, while others simply have a racist opinion.
"Ah don' want none o' them whistlers makin' decisions 'bout our money" says Henry Tszyema, a random man from the street. "Just ain't na'ural, ya kno', talkin' in music an' no' in words, like the rest o' us normal people."
After this short interview, a fight broke out between Tszyema and an anti-speciesist activist.

Illegal transport organization stopped
Yesterday a police unit discovered the main hideout for the illegal wormhole transportation company that has had them puzzled for months.
We tried to get an interview with captain Dovmnitz of the Zuguth Special Police, but he refused to answer any questions.

New toys for the soldier boys?
Rumor has it that TechTron Industries are designing and field-testing new heavy military equipment, such as machine guns, assault cannons, mechs and tanks. We will look into these rumors and see if they are true, or alternatively how deep we have to dig for them to appear to be true.
