Johanna checked he seals between the grey-black plates of her armor and picked up her helmet from its slot in the display case. Holding the helmet under her arm, she walked to her personal weapons locker and gathered her equipment. Several chemical air fuel grenades, a couple fragmentation grenades, her custom assault rifle, two pistols, and a 50cm nanoedge blade, all of which fit into slots and onto magnetic clips in her armor. She checked her watch, seven minutes to drop. She call for her drop team to muster at the bank of pods.

"Alright, everyone. We drop in seven minutes. We'll try to keep a low profile at first, but as soon as we're noticed all hell will break loose and it'll be kill or be killed. Hopefully we'll have a chance to take out the AA placements and get heavy metal on the ground before they get their own out. Korriam, you've familiarized yourself to strigiforme electronic security patterns?"

Marcus nodded.

"Good. We'll need you to get us through. If you can't, Cliff and Shane, one of you'll have to manually breach. Reyvell, you're our marksman. Set up somewhere with ample cover and a good view, watch for threats that we can't see and try to take them out. We'll be dropping a half-klick from the southernmost arrays. We'll have to take them both out before we can get the heavies on the ground. Derrick will command that team from the ship. We'll go in behind and protect their flanks as they break through the perimeter. From there we have two options: Take out the facilities ourselves or take out the shield generators for an orbital bombardment. Everyone ready?"

A general positive noise issued from the group.

"Remember, the ones of you that are alive at the end'll get a hefty paycheck for this one."

Smoke slid her helmet over her head and locked it to her armor. A smoking holographic skull with the left half replaced with electronics flickered in the helmet's wrap-around faceplate.

"EVERYONE READY?"

"HELL YEAH"

"Let's go then! To your entry pods!"

Johanna walked to her own pod and watched as the front panel-door descended and locked her in and prepared for atmospheric insertion.

Entering her pod, Aleece activated auxiliary shock absorbers just in case the landing's a bit too hard.

Jake entered his pod.
He made sure the targeting system in his helmet was working, and that his weapons were synced with it.
"This is gonna be awesome" he said to himself.
"Explosions everywhere, dangerous opposing forces outnumbering us totally, probably some giant mechs or tanks or something too."
Then he looked worried for a moment.
"I wonder if I have enough explosives..."

Thomas entered his pod, activated all of his sensors and powered his suit to 100%. He closed the door. He then settled in for the g-forces and the adrenaline-filled ride.

Johanna pressed her head against the restraints and flipped the safety cover on the release button. "Drop in three... Two..." The last number stuck in her throat as she plunged the button into the console and sent her pod and those of her comrades down through the last layer of hull plating and into empty space. Sudden, violent acceleration rocked the pod as rockets fired to negate the orbital velocity and it plummeted into the planet's gravity well. There was a moment of silence as the entry vehicle drifted through space before it hit the atmosphere. Roaring and irregular vibrations shook out whatever sense of orientation Smoke maintained. She gripped the handle and attempted to focus on the ASIs and altimeters. More thrusters fired, adjusting attack angle and ensuring a landing within 100 meters of target. The pods descended until they were a few kilometers above the dark ground, then fired retrorockets to decelerate to a survivable speed of impact. Johanna's suit prevented her from passing out as the thrusters manipulated the craft. The pod pounded into the soft terrain, Smoke felt the impacts of the others in the drop team through her shock absorbers. The pod door's explosive bolts detonated, sending the panel onto the soil. Johanna removed her assault rifle from her back, set up a point-to-point communications network, and stepped out of the pod.

Derrick was monitoring everyone from the ship's bridge. He had his own workstation, and on each separate window on the holo-screen was a team member. There was a radar net, the output directly fed to him rather than an analysis core, a DRADIS sensor, also wired to him, and a myriad of controls and programming lines open. He was adjusting settings to best-suit the planet's atmosphere, and then he checked on the team. Everyone made it, and it seemed they were undetected. By sensors, at least. Anyone who happened to look up would have seen the streaks of fire as the pods entered the atmosphere.

He activated the Quantum-Entanglement Communicator as he heard Smoke's message. "Everyone's alright," he responded, checking the systems. "Looks like we have an element of surprise, though not for long. They weren't expecting company, but i'm reading a distant flight headed your way. Probably a small gunship- the readings are too low for the sensors to correctly interpret. Once they realize that this wasn't a meteorite, they'll put the mining bases on full alert." Derrick set it to listening mode and began activating stealth switches and heat sinks. The ship disappeared, in time to hide from the mining freighter that was passing by.

Upon landing, none of the door's bolts detonated. Deciding a better alternative to most anything, Aleece placed both feet on the panel and diverted power the the motors. The door gave way after 7 thousanths of a seconds, the opposing force of the panel was almost completely negated by the cushioning of the pod's wall. In the time it took for her to stop pressing into the seat and start falling, she moved her legs downward where she ended up in a tall crouch. The panel landed about 5 meters away, almost hitting the back of a very close pod. Looking around, she couldn't see the dark plating of the other's drop pods, of course, not including the extremely close one. She walked up the other pod, checking through memory she found it was the pod Thomas had entered. Switching to thermal vision, she looked around. On a slight ridge she could see a relatively short tower holding three or four owls, due to the distance it wasn't very clear, but after switching to normal vision she could see they were moving to get their quite long weapons out. Taking out one of her pistols, she took a few shots at them. One could be quite visibly seen falling out of the tower in a shower of blood and feathers.

Jack heard a few shots and a owl fell from a tower 500 feet across from him. He heard the surprised and angry voices coming from the tower, the Owls in front of him begin moving toward the shots. He took a deep breath.

"For Jack Cintier!" He said as vaulted across his cover shooting the two owls fell quickly and he ran to the next piece of cover.
"They might know we are here guys."

-.- Shane ran to cover behind a large rock. he had never been good in long range combat. who could blame him though? the only long range weapon he had was his rocket launcher which he wasnt planning on using just yet.he was going to have to get closer. he raised a stone above his head and a spray of bullets barely missed his hand which he immediately pulled back down. there was no way to get out from behind the rock without being hit. he took a smoke grenade from his sack on his hip and tossed it over.
