Welcome to the Periphery. I haven't seen a BattleTech/MechWarrior-based RP yet, so I'll throw one out here now. This is based on the edges of known space, where bandits, kingdoms and the Nobl Houses battle for resources, mechs, hostages,a nd terrirory. Sorry to see you're out here, but good luck kicking ass.

Rules:
1. Standard RP rules- no powergaming, metagaming, OPness, etc. It's assumed that by joniing, you're familiar with commonly used RP rules.
2. You start off as a lowbie. You're not a King, Lord, Baron, Emperor, Duke, or whatever- you're Pilot (Graduated).
3. Whatever an RP Mod says, goes- no arguments over rulings by our good overseers.
4. custom Mechs must be detailed and accepted before use.
5. Humans only- we've found no aliens.

Enemy powerup, detected.

Mechs:
To get a 'mech accepted, post the tonnage (weight), weaponsry (see below), and armor rating (again, below). There will be a list of standard 'mechs to choose one. These are good starter mechs- it's advised you pick and use one. Mechs also need to worry about heat- too hot and your mech's systems will not funtion correctly.

Enemy mech, destroyed.

Mech Weapons:

-Lasers. Large, Medium, Small, Micro. Normal and Pulse. High heat, high damage.

-AutoCannon. AC/2, AC/5, AC/10, AC/20. Larger the number, the more damage it does, and the shorter range it has. Low heat.

-Short Range and Long Range Missiles (SRM and LRM). S/LRM-(# of missiles in rack- 5-20). Medium heat.
ex. LRM-20- fires 20 missiles.

-Short Range Cannon (SRC). Fires a shotgun-like blast of shrapnel a short distance. No heat.

Particle Projector Cannon (PPC). Fires a particle steam that will melt armor of enemy 'mechs, but generates a lot of heat and is veeery heavy. Ermahgerd heat.
Warning. Damage, critical.

Mech Armors:
Spoiler:
-Light. You'll take a few hits, but you're still fragile. Very lightweight, allowing for high speeds.

-Medium. You can take quite a few hits, but are heavier (and slower) than light.

-Medium Assault. You can take quite a lot of damage, but your weapon load is restricted to 4 weapons, and you're slow as Heavy mechs.

-Heavy. Kings of absorbing fire, you can weather a lot, but you move very slow.

-Ultra. You can take anything short of a nuke strike, but can be outrun by anyoen and anything short of a glacier.

Standard Mechs:

Two AC/2s, one medium laser. Light armor. Scout and light support mech.

Dragon - II
Two Heavy Lasers, one LRM-10. Medium armor. General-purpose mech.

Rifleman
Four AC/2s. Two LRM-10s. Medium armor. Anti-air and sniper mech.

Awesome
Two Heavy Pulse lasers. Four SRM-5s. One AC/20. Heavy armor. Attack mech, dealing a heavy punch.

Jupiter
Four AC/10s. Two PPCs. Two LRM-5s. Ultra armor. Big, nasty, heavily armed, and generally terrifying. Piloted by the elite, and only used for heavy defense or all-out assaults.
Lockouts released. Mech is now weapons-capable.

OOC-Wait do I right about the pilot or just the mech... Also, where are we specifically or do we just start where ever and start trying to take over ... Do we work for someone or just have a mech and want to start killing...
I am fine if we are just supposed to make up whatever we are doing and where we start and why but I would like to be told something towards the rp side of things....

It should be a contract system. Like, we're mercenaries, and we get hired by the various factions for jobs, often pitting ourselves against each other.

Application;

Pilot- Fenway "Ash" Darius.

Mech- Custom, E-771 "Alastor". The Alastor was designed for assault roles, generally crippling enemy targets before wiping them out in short order. It excels in short-term combat, where it can take out enemies relatively quickly, but performance can suffer in prolonged combat.

Weaponry-
1x Electro-Laser; Modified Medium Laser. It ionizes the air between itself and the target using the laser, then passes a powerful electric current through it. Low heat generation, low damage, but capable of disrupting enemy systems. It can be evaded by a fast moving enemy, as the weapon lacks the tracking ability of a laser (I.E while a Laser can sweep across a battle, the Electro-Laser is like a hit-scan gun, where it hits everything in it's path but can divert from it).
2x Railgun; Custom Kinetic Weapon. Uses powerful electromagnets to fling a ferrous projectile at extremely high speeds. The massive speed it exhibits often generates a plasma plume behind it, which can catalyst the destructive effect of the weapon. Medium heat generation, high damage, large recoil.
2x Nova Plasma Beams; Custom Energy Weapon. Fires an incredibly-high temperature plasma-beam, created through a combination of gamma-rays and ionization. It is designed to overheat enemy systems and melt their components. The weapon itself is designed with high-heat tolerance in mind, but it will not stand constant usage. High heat, moderate damage. Heats up enemy systems.

Armor- Medium.

Tonnage- 50 Tons (There is no comparison via the standard mechs, so it's a stab in the dark).

Pilot- Festor Gradius (Skytherian)

Mech- Type IV battle rig, custom:
The Type IV was a battle rig developed by the NSCD for use by Skytherian pilots, and built upon existing imitations of the fearsome MK-IV Lamentor, just without the near invincibility or the lack of control. The mech itself is quite small, only standing at 3 meters high, however it is very light, very fast, and consequently a pain in the ass to hit. While the Type IV is not heavily armed, it is capably of short range melee combat using the extending claw mechanism situated on the left arm, leading to the interesting battle tactics of "leaping" where a pilot in a Type IV would run between the legs of a larger mech, then jump up an tear the pilot out using the claw. The Type IV is designed for close range combat, at longer ranges it becomes a sitting duck.

Weapons:

1x Heavy duty extending claw: can be extended up to 3 meters, has a very strong grip, and is capable of crushing components. Situated on left arm. No heat.

1xPlasma slug cannon: fires chunks of superheated plasma, weapon causes enemy systems to heat up, and can melt right through armour, however the damage decreases exponentially with range. Situated on right arm. High heat, but dissipates quickly, however the fire rate must be kept to a minimum to avoid damage.

Armour: light

Tonnage: 2.5 tonnes


A rather small mech, but lethal at close range.

Light 'mechs are generally in the 30-40 ton range (scouts can be as little as 25 tons), mediums are 45-55, heavies are 60-75, assaults can be as much as 100 tons.

AKA: The Hot Fuckup. During training, Blaze had a habit of designing mechs in the sim with lots of energy and no heat sinks.

Blue Flame was designed to be a powerful long-range, multirole attack mech that can be used in many scenarios, including scouting, LR support, and light assault.

@All forgot to clarify: humans only. all characters accepted (if you're not human, pretend your race name is your clan/faction/mother's anem or whatever.

All 'mechs accepted, excepting Proto. Minimum weight is ~20 tons. 2.5 tons means you're piloting a battlesuits. Tin Can suits, intended for Infantry- you're nuts to drive one. Or so they say.
...but the standard mechs exist for a reason and can be modified.

@cats You're running hotter than an inferno round in combat. How often do you end up glowing like the sun?

@340 if you want to be a merc, you're a merc- of you can be part fo the Successor houses. your choice.
