Upon arrival of Novum's border, the expeditionary force encounters no hailings from border officials. In fact, they don't see any ships but their own.

The force moves to the nearest major planet to look for something. A small meteorite impacts the hull of the lead one, but the armor is too thick to do any damage.

While coasting towards Nil, they fly past what appears to be an Onesty missing all hull and armor with large gashes through the frame. The engines flicker on and off, it was heading away. While closing in on Nil, a trail of corpses can be seen. One even bounces off one of the other ships. Their placement suggests they were removed from the Onesty while it was in transit. ((The plot thickens.))

The force approaches a large station, obviously with massive damages. Corpses are certainly visible through the ports. One ship lands and a force enters the station. Minutes later, radio contact ceases. The force considers abandoning the mission when the ship contacts the others. Unaware of the danger, they answer. Every system is quickly compromised. The automated defense system activates. It opens fire on the crew. The ships are largely damaged by the ensuing firefight.

Not much later, the ships begin turning around. Though damaged internally, externally they are completely intact. They follow each other before warping. Each to a separate location.
