Yeah, confusion. The huge one behind you (the buckling one) is the door that leads to the nebula. It's how ships come in.

The one you're going through (or attempting to) is a large blast door that leads further towards the center of the ship. There are two other doors on the side, about the same size as the blast door, but much farther from the corvette/dropship than the middle one is.

Pausing RP for a moment while I compose stuff for Project Gravity: will deliver soon.

Vena steps back from the door, dubbing the strigiforme a "bloody fuck of a case" and noting the irony of using explosives on a door built specifically against explosions. She throws a hand up and focuses energy toward her fingertips in an attempt to create a hemispherical shield to protect herself and Vinebane, as well as anyone else within a small radius, against debris.

Letting off a string of muttered invective, Karl ducked around a corner, awaiting the bang and eyeing the external doors warily.

Ricco noisily walks up next to Karl unable to roll for fear of sliding and locked three of his legs together in a shield. The legs all anchored to the floor with electromagnets.

Vena punches Fenway's head and angrly glares at him. She softly mutters "move... you *." into his ear.

'Vena, Valkyrius. Stop punching the fourth wall; we'd like to keep it intact.'

I'm pausing for a thing: I swear I won't let this die.

FUCK MUSIC I HAVE NO MUSICAL TALENT

LETS DO THIS SHIT NOW

Rolling for engineering... 62

You apply it on the edges of the door. But in your haste, you forgot to notice that the door opened by sliding open to the top. No hinges, only motorized gears. The block detonates and leaves you a dent in the massive door.

Rolling for luck... 1 (CRITICAL FAILURE)

Your luck has run out.

The gravity suddenly shifts massively, briefly pulling you away from the door before mostly normalizing. The sound of screeching metal fills the entire hanger as the massive outer door is torn apart and flung into space, a twisted piece of metal. The dropship is dragged out with it, the engine column detonating as it slams into the remnants of the door. The corvette's final docking connector is torn free and it screeches into the cold embrace of the nebula. In the center of the door's remnants, hovers a horribly disfigured creature.

It's closer to a machine than a creature. As gravity begins normalizing again it enters. Metal plates cover a large majority of it's hide, a thick scaly hide poking out from the gaps. Two mechanical limbs ending in claws dangle by its sides, glowing with energy, unsteadily shifting between multiple colors. Four rapidly swiveling turrets are present on the arms, 2 each on the top and bottom. Their hemispherical domes end in rectangular barrels, occasionally sparking with electricity. A light is active on each- as you watch, the light switches colors from green to red.

Suspended on the bottom of it is a large device. It looks big enough to be mounted on a spacecraft, and yet it possesses no true barrel. Several concentric rings dance around the mechanism, whirring away. Light pulses from the center of these rings, a light that remains a deep crimson red. The armor plating is all interconnected to this device, covering the creature to the fullest here. Several more mechanical projections are behind it; they look superficially similar to fighter stabilizers, barring them being covered completely in some form of electronics.

And it's face... covered by steel. It is hidden behind a mask of silver, yet scorch marks are plainly visible. Where the eye sockets would be, only a deep black void remains.

It is advancing towards you. Ready your weapons.

You connect with the creature psionically. Briefly. You catch a glimpse of its mind- and it blinds you with pain. A pain you have experienced, a pain of a magnitude that would drive one to insanity. But you have already been driven to it, and you break the connection. The pain stops, but the afterglow remains. There is almost no signature being emitted by this thing, as if it's already dead.

You only caught a fragment of it's mind, it's purpose. Tantibus. Project Gravity.

Ohhh shit, son.

Unfreezing, Karl raises his rifle. Sighting on the visibly least protected spot - the stabilizers? Cooling fins? Something i portant-looking, anyhow -he looses a three-round burst.

Yellin over his shoulder - 'Get that bloody door ope and let's go!' - he shifts his gaze over the creature, looking for a gap in the armour.
