Ajax pulled up the station map on a nearby console. Reviewing the docks, she turned to the window and eyed lot 16.

Jovian gets up at the requisite time and heads out to the breakfast area for a quick bite to eat. He wanted to be a bit early, and was also wary-some incorrectly prepared food could kill him.

That's why he chose this place. Bad food was unlikely.

Sorry, I've been without compy for the past few days and didn't want to type everything on a phone.

===============

Ajax

You roll an 11. Ajax manages to operate the somewhat unfamiliar console. +1 Engineering.

Lot 16's airlock is located in an unassuming position among the other midsize ship lots, about 50 meters from lots 15 and 17. A hooded figure in garb similar to the Batii with whom you spoke earlier stands near the airlock door. Above the door, displayed on an ancient LCD screen, are the occupying ship's name and owner:

Jovian

You roll a 99. You're feeling quite nice today. Along with your antiviral meds, you're virtually impenetrable. The food is delicious. The rusty head of an obsolete security drone squints at you lustily from the counter where it's bolted and wired. "Hey there, honey. You're lookin' good tonight."

The clerk from last night rolls up a piece of faux paper and hits the head, "You stop that." He looks to you and smiles apologetically, "I'm sorry, sir. The useless, broken thing picks up some bad habits from the late-night crowd."

I'm sure this isn't necessary, but remember, kid, 0900. Lots 4-6, those are in the large ship wing.

Frowning slighlty, Ajax began meandering her way towards Lot 16. Deploying her helmet (part of the uniform), she activated the HUD and tried to get an ID on the ship in the lot.

(Whoops I was GMing too fast and forgot to come up with a name. You're still on Hub 9, in interstellar space.)

The screen above the door reads:

Interim
Registered owner: [Anonymous].

Though you can't see the being's eyes, you can feel it scanning you. Perhaps not with its vision. Odd, considering you felt no psionic presence prior to this moment.

Jovian left Newmans and was instantly hit with a flash of psionic activity. He looked around and didn't see anything- again. But he decided that Newman's seemed to be psionic-proof in some capacity.

He began walking down to the lots, 4-6. He planned to be there at least 15 minutes early. He checked his interface and saw that he had time.

Ajax eyed the being, cautiously 'pinging' it with a psionic pulse. Her helmet HUD was being unhelpful, so she collapsed the helmet and raised an eyebrow.

After the firefight outside his room had settled, Martin walked out into the hallway, stepped across the dead bodies, walked out of the Pub 9, and headed towards the recruitment area.

Martin

You pass the gruff trackuul bartender, who was too busy shouting at the hologram of someone from MercNet corporate to notice your presence. The recruitment center is, as usual, quiet save for a few rugged blackwater mercs making their way to the hub plaza.

You turn to see two security drones that look like they're in dire need of maintenance quickly trudging after you. They are probably just coming to beat you up or throw you out of an airlock for your possible role in the transgression (as is the swift, semicorporate justice of the MercNet).

Ajax

Your psionic roll is a 20 (I may need to get some more well-balanced dice). Your psionic pulse is more than effective and you end up making contact with not only the target but also another psion somewhere in another part of the docks. Your target visibly starts at the strength of the ping and tilts its head, then gives a sharp nod. The hood flops back slightly, revealing a helmet with a full face mask. Its psionic signal disappears entirely as the greeter begins to speak. "That is correct, Novan," it says. The voice is rasping and electronic. "I did not know you were a psion. Please, enter Interim. It is a relatively small craft, but FTL capable. Our trip will begin immediately." It taps a few buttons and the doors slide open.

Jovian

You arrive at the large craft wing of the dock. A group of mercs is loading various supplies through two open airlocks. Above one airlock is the the number 4, Stellar Gale: Black Sun's Breath; above the other is 5, Eclipse of Sunrise: Black Sun's Breath.

You sense a strong psionic ping from someone in another section of the dock.

Someone shouts amid the clamor, "Oi, kid, over here!" A hand protrudes above the crates and personnel. The person to whom the hand belongs is a tall female human with unnaturally silver hair that appears significantly younger than you, at least by your best judgement.

"I'm Greynova, contacted you earlier." She said, taking one of your free hands and painfully squeezing it. "So you've decided to join us. Good, we're about to cast off as soon as we get these loaded. You'll be on Stellar Gale."

Ajax nodded and followed the... whatever, into the small vessel.

Glancing through the docking bay window, she tried to ID the ship class visually. To the... being, she said, 'You may wish to study more; most of my people are psions. If I may ask, what is our travel time expected to be?'

Mentally finding the other psion on the station, she sent a simple greeting and apology for any discomfort caused.

Jovian senses the ping and quickly realizes that this is the signature he had been receiving earlier; the patterns matched. And from the greeting he received immediately after, this wasn't an NR agent. He sent back a response- thanking him for contacting him and assuring that no harm was done- and turned to the ship outside. She partially identified the ship; it appeared to be a class CV freighter, though the model he could not identify. It was quite obviously heavily modified from normal commercial versions. He turned to Greynova.

"Thiss appearss to be a cargo mission then," Jovian remarked. "Might I ask what we are carrying and our destination?"

Martin looked at the security drones, with his hand on his thigh, ready to reach for the autoplas handgun if needed.
"Sirs, what seems to be the trouble?"
