Grounded: Deep Space

The year is 2455. The Vega 016, a transport ship owned by the small, insignificant transport company Vega Lines, glides through space, the engines preparing for the next jump, the crew relaxing. This crew consists mostly of a group of mercenaries hired by Vega Lines to protect this special cargo run, since the ship will be passing through rather dangerous territory.
You are one of these mercenaries.

They must have had decent stealth engines, because the sensors didn't pick them up until their cannons hit the engines of your ship. Pirates, despicable scum, if you look past the fact that they're just looking for their next meal, and maybe a new phone if they're lucky. The battle was brief, and ended with two disabled ships drifting beside each other. The pirate shots shook the ship and damaged engines and reactors badly, knocking the crew unconscious and making the ship run on backup generators, even those damages.
Luckily, the transport ship managed to disable the pirate ship as well, despite not having much in way of dakka. But your life support isn't running at its full capacity, and it's only a matter of time before your oxygen runs out unless you manage to fix it before the pirates fix their ship.

You wake up on the cold, metal floor, your head clouded. The light are flickering, and it's feeling a little chilly.

We haven't actually had a good grounded RP since Wasteland. Will this change that? I hope so.
TL;DR you are a merc on a transport ship carrying something special, pirates attacked, and life support is broken.

Rules are the regular stuff, you know it by now.

Application is as follows:
Spoiler:
Name:
Race: (keep in mind it would most probably be human, but we're not being speciesist, other races are allowed. No ponies though, or anything that couldn't fit in a ship made for humans.)
Gender: (if applicable)
Job/role on the ship:
Gear:
Personality and/or skills: (technically optional, but including it would be helpful)
Backstory: (optional)
Description: (very optional)
My char as an example:
Spoiler:
Name: Dale Mathews
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Job/role on the ship: Accountant (or something) from Vega Lines, leader of the mission, is there to make sure everything goes right.
Gear: Light blue shirt, dark gray pants, plasma pistol, tablet, and glasses, though he's considering getting ocular implants.
Personality and/or skills: Focused on the job, not very emotional, cares little about the mercs or life in general, skilled in managing stuff but not skilled with people.
People so far:
Spoiler:
Daynel as Dale Mathews, mission leader
Error as Lieutennant Commander Ajax Gaetin, pilot and navigator
Julo as Gool, doctor
Fenway as Jag, combat engineer

Eh, can't come up with a character so far. I'll sleep over it and then apply.

Looks like the "most probably be human" part has gone down the pooper.

Well, "most probably human" doesn't mean "gotta be at least 50% humans", or even "gotta be at least one human". As long as they fit in the ship it's all fine.
