The skills thing is rather vague
Green skills are stuff your class would know you can put three points in plus your level (so 4 points max).
White skills are stuff you wouldn't really know, it takes two skill points for one level in these skills.

Untrained skills are stuff you can do even without skill points in it for example anyone can try to swim with 0 points but they cannot try to tumble.

But yeah you did it right, that works fine.

You three sit in a tavern around a table near the wall next to the door, By the bar sits a haggard looking man who might have a story or job to give at asking. The bartender stands behind the counter wiping down wooden mugs with a cloth and sorting various containers of drunkenness in a bottle behind the counter. Over at another table sits 4 men playing a game of poker you can clearly see one cheating from this angle. A tavern wench wanders about wiping off tables and clearing dishes from the recent lunch hour. In front of you on the table sits an object from your recent adventures, a magical box (1'x1'x1') that you know nothing about other then its magical and its a box.

Outside sits the town of Abengard settled with a river running clear through it off to the oceans and inland to the mountains. It is a fairly large town and you are bound to find anything you would need for your travels.
