Desperation

The Akalash 723 research expedition doomed everything.

At these coordinates, the 720 expedition found a massive installation built around a star. Dubbed the Akalash Ringworld, the installation was the single greatest find of any nation. It represented more resources, land, and technology than any other object discovered to date, save maybe the ARK stations, and every empire laid a claim on a part of it.

There was a problem, however. The entire surface of the ringworld was sealed. It could not be accessed.

The 721 and 722 expeditions found no entrance to the ringworld, and were completely unable to communicate with it. And thus, we sent the 723 expedition with a massive laser to burn through the shell to access it. In the process, we activated some sort of defense mechanism. 5 hours after activating the laser, the expedition noted several extremely distant structures in the system activating. Not long after, a massive energy flux in subspace was detected. Energy flowing from the ringworld to these structures, which we have named Relays.

In the days and weeks following the activation, a massive web of subspace energy was observed being created throughout the galaxy. Many of the nearby relays corresponded with locations of known ARK stations; this knowledge led to the immediate massive militarization of every nation.

Except the Strigiforme. They were confident, cocky, and assured that they could extinguish this threat without incident. They took a massive battle fleet and jumped to this ringworld. Several hours later, the fleet jumped back to Cuuyth, with a few ships lost, but otherwise unharmed. The Strigiforme rejoiced. The arrival of the fleet was shown across the sector; the transmission cut out as the flagship approached the capital, briefly silhouetted against the system's star. No further ships or transmissions came out of Strigiforme space.

Not long after, other systems simply dropped off the map entirely. No transmissions, no ships. They originated from Strigiforme space. Military forces were scrambled to defend further systems. Seconds before these systems fell as well, a flurry of communications was received from each fleet. The transmissions used a language not recognized by any algorithm or sentient, even those of the ARK stations.

Governments collapsed soon after. There was simply nothing to be done. Worlds fell into anarchy and any organized response became nonexistent. Small militia forces popped up here and there, sending out fleets to delay this sweeping darkness. None succeeded. As systems vanished, the last collection of ships resided over Earth.

And this fleet resolved to flight, not fight. And they... we... are still running. 10 years later.

We do not know the enemy. But we can keep running. We will run to the end of the universe.

APPLICATION:

[Name]

[Species]

[Occupation (Before fall)]

[Name of Ship]

[Type of Ship]

[Armament level]

[Defenses level]

[Back-story]

For myself:
Spoiler:
APPLICATION:

[Name] Belavrius Lancaster

[Species] Human

[Occupation (Before fall)] NeoRoman Admiral

[Name of Ship] Restitution

[Type of Ship] Battleship

[Armament level] Heavily Armed

[Defense level] Heavily Armored

[Back-story] Belavrius was an extremely high ranking admiral in the NeoRoman military. He deserted it shortly before Antioch fell, and rendezvoused with the collection of ships holding over Earth. He took control over them and lead their flight, and has continued directing it for the past 10 years. Not much is known about his past.
INFORMATION:

Ships

Every player is in control of one ship or another. There are many ships; very few of them are military, so you will probably be stuck with a civilian ship of some kind or another (Miner, freighter, maybe science or something). If there are too many military ship applications, I may ask you to change your ship. Once the RP starts, I will create a full fleet list; it will have every ship in the fleet, including the other's not under our (direct) command (NPC's).

Politics

There is a political system in place here. As of currently, it has been a military dictatorship (though that may change) under command of Hgalvan. The ranking is as follows;

Supreme Commander (Only one)

Admiral (three)

Captain (Everyone else)

In this current system, orders are handed down by superiors. An admiral, for example, can order captains under his command to do something, but he responds to the Supreme Commander's orders. The orders of superiors cannot be contested under this system by those under them, they just have to be done.

The political system can change, but it might not. For the current system, I will choose who fulfills each role (dictatorship). If events go down, the political system will be updated accordingly.

Realism

This RP is semi-realistic. As in, you have to get materials from planets and stuff to build things. Since we are on the run, large-scale building isn't really possible. You can't ass-pull stuff. Resources are pretty tight anyway; mining operations are limited in size and scope and the enemy is always coming. Be reasonable.

And not everyone is level headed. We've been running for 10 years; things are heating up.

Rules

Standard RP rules. Don't be an ass, don't pull things from nowhere, give others a chance, no godmodding, etc etc. We're pretty good so I shouldn't need to say anything.

Fleet Composition

-NRS Restitution Battleship commanded by Hgalvan

I assume this isn't main-universe. But cool.

[Name] Hans Valkyrius

[Species] Novan

[Occupation (Before fall)] CSN ship Commander

[Name of Ship] CSV Repulse

[Type of Ship] Novan destroyer

[Armament level] High - Though available ammunition is limited

[Defenses level] High

[Back-story] Was ordered to Earth to maintain surveillance shortly before the Novus system went dark. The carrier force sent to Earth never arrived, so he departed with the rest of the fleet.

The Repulse serves mainly as rapid-reaction, with recce duties on the side, due to the ship's hybrid FTL/jump drives. Ammunition for the weapons is limited, but given their sheer power, that isn't a massive concern (yet).

Valkyrius himself is now 92, and one of the calmest ship commanders in the fleet. Repulse acts almost as a rest stop for some of the other military vessels in the fleet, due to her considerable (for a military vessel) creature comforts, as well as serving as a temporary stop for civilians attempting to escape their former vessels. She runs with a crew of 36 - minimal, but manageable. In addition to the crew, 20 Novan survivors reside aboard, most serving as either shuttle pilots or general maintenance personnel.

Officially, the ship is still part of the CSN, and Valkyrius only nominally acknowledges the NR fleet commander.

[Name] Vladius Brinxton

[Species] Human

[Occupation (Before fall)] Orion Confederation Nike Battlecruiser Captain

[Name of Ship] Intrepid

[Type of Ship] Confederation Border Police Corvette

[Armament level] Low-Medium

[Defenses level] Medium

[Back-story] Vladius was on the fast track to Admiral before the disaster struck. He is now one of the more prominent members of the Survivor's Fleet.

[Name] Rau Varkas

[Species] Human

[Occupation (Before fall)] Hexalan captain of a Campaign-Class

[Name of Ship] Sorceress' Beauty

[Type of Ship] Novan freighter

[Armament level] Extremely low

[Defenses level] Low

[Back-story] Rau, named after the Delta Fleet admiral Jeld Rau, was a captain among a Hexalani fleet at Novus when several warbands attacked them. He was one of the few to escape, and did so with a Novan freighter he happened upon in an escape pod.

Name: Knight Eskas

Species: NSCD Inner Knight

Occupation before fall: Admiral of the first Fleet of the Knights of the Inner ARK (tiddles for short)

Name of ship: NKI Revengeance

Type of ship: Extinctor cruiser

Armament level: high (maybe not the 115 separate turrets normally present on an Extinctor class for balance reasons)

Defences level: moderate

Back-story: the Knights of the Inner ARK were an organisation within the ARK itself dedicated to locating and neutralising hostile ARK stations. When the ring world was discovered, Knight Eskas's fleet was sent to investigate. The NKI Revengeance was ordered to join the fleet under classified orders from NSCD high command on it's return from the ring world.

[Name] Vyytral

[Species] Strigiforme

[Occupation (Before fall)] Weapons Officer on a Strigiforme cruiser

[Name of Ship] Kyyt

[Type of Ship] Kyytr Defensive Support ship

[Armament level] Medium

[Defenses level] Extremely High; has many defensive CIWS turrets and is capable of deploying a shield

[Backstory] Vyytral was an officer in one of the Strigiforme colonies in Andromeda. His ship was one of the few Strigiforme ships to escape. He was weapons officer on another ship, but was saved from the ship's wreckage after a battle with raiders. The Kyyt was a new pattern on the old Strigiforme Jtyyl CIWS platform, designed to protect fleets from missiles. It has since been modified with a shield emitter and a small gas mining rig.

@Vinyl: Just a thing, all Novan ships actually have decent shields, so you'd likely rate medium on defenses, but you'll likely be completely unarmed. But you can at least take hits while you flee, so there's that.

Also, Fen, did the Andromedan / Triangulan Strigiforme & Novan colnies survive? Because Novus could just turn off the jumpgate, and I think the owls don't have any form of instant-transfer to either galaxy.

[Name] Prof. Chernov Dvinovsky

[Species] Human

[Occupation (Before fall)] Professor in biology and civil engineering

[Name of Ship] Angel of Eden

[Type of Ship] Mk. V colonization ship, complete with a mining module, a Heavy Duty 3D construction module, a lab, and a sizable cargo bay.

[Armament level] Low

[Defenses level] Medium-high

[Back-story] His extensive knowledge of biology and construction made professor Dvinovsky the leading scientific official of one greatest Zuguthian colonization ships, the Angel of Eden, at the relatively young age of 47, and he was in the position for 5 years before the incident. The ship was about returning to Zuguth to resupply when the disaster took place, so they had to set off without enough materials to construct a colony immediately, so they decided to mine whatever asteroids they could find, and eventually they found the rest of the survivors.

This is not canon, just a thing to pass time while we figure everything out.

We can have as many RP's as we want.

NOTE: We don't know what happened to the Andromeda colonies. No communications, but then again, we don't have the tech needed to communicate. But over the last 5 years we have been FTL jumping to Andromeda (The Restitution has an FTL drive capable of stringing together the fleet in one synchronized jump and it doesn't require energy to sustain the jump, merely energy to start and stop it.) We are about to arrive at Andromeda.

Anyway, going through what we have;

The three admirals will be Knight Eskas, Vyytraal, and Prof. Chernov Dvinovosky. The reasoning;

-Knight specialized in ARK stations, and as such, is quicker to know the enemy than any other. Not that we have any information; we've never even seen them, they just make things disappear. Primarily handles everything to do with the Darkness.

-Vyytraal is a surviving Strigiforme commander from an Andromeda colony, which we passed a few months ago. His expertise is invaluable, so he was quickly promoted. Primarily handles tactics.

-Chernov is the science person and commands a colony ship. His expertise is very valuable and therefore he leads ventures outside military. Handles scientific matters.

You are all accepted.

I am also no longer accepting military ships.

Nothing is canon right now, it's just not nice to have three RPs of one kind going at a time. That's been discussed many times before and doesn't have anything to do with the reset.

New note: I will use the Space-Engine thingy suggested for systems we move to, of course adding a possible anomaly sometimes.

If nobody else is interested we shall start soon.
