WIP here. I HAD most of the draft done, but Chrome crashed and the forum deleted it and i'm not going to start on it again until tomorrow. At least I have the concepts done.

Well when it comes to Empire RPs I suggest implementing a proper map with the systems of each side present on it, this means that now the location of each fleet matters and so it adds great depth to strategic battle encounters. Now in order to jump between systems I was planning to use a system based on parsecs, a measurement unit of distance in space. Depending on your tech rating your fleets can jump a different number of parsecs each jump, meaning that you can only go to start within your jump range. To get a hang of what a parsec is the distance between Sol and the nearest star to us, Proxima Centuri, is 1.3 parsecs away, meaning that if a terran jump drive can produce up to 2 parsecs it can reach that star (Ofc 2 parsecs is not really impressive )

The problem with this system is that it requires too much work on the user's part to keep track of and so it is unusable without mah program thingy.

Do you really think there's anyone here who doesn't know what a parsec is? :s

Dem rules look fairly good to me, Fen.

Is ship production, battles, and other such things going to be mediated out on a case-by-case style, or do you have something in mind there?

Really sorry fen, but that sounds like about half a dozen text based, turn based strategy games. Sadly, I have no alternative besides having an active GM and staying the course we're on now.

The issue, ACH, is that there's no real good system of moderating RP's. It's either all moderated or none moderated, it has been proven time and time again that there is NO middle ground. This is the only thing that hasn't been tried. I can reduce gamey elements, but I can't satisfy all the people all the time. Someone will disagree.

Holy crap, just had this crazy idea! What if instead of typing it out, we just made a strategy gam-

Oh, wait..

Screw this. I'm throwing the towel in. All future RP's will be unmoderated and unstructured, as you all enjoy it to be.

And I won't take part. NeoRome is dead.

I don't understand.

It seems like you deleted your post and all that work directly as a result of me criticizing my own lack of diligence. Maybe it's just me, but that response seems a bit...disproportional? Maybe even unwarranted?

:?
