With the Strigiforme economy in a slow but accelerating free fall as a result of several small foreign investment bubbles, the galactic economy should be ready to take action. Though their isolationist policies insulate them from the larger economic system, tremors from such a vast manufacturing exports market could easily cause damage to some major industries.

The Strigiforme government has begun to colonize several new planets, with the world's being in habitable zones but currently inhabitable for various reasons. Habilitation projects will begin within the month.

"Incoming contact!" The ship command center was relatively busy as they patrolled over the industrial world. The expansive defense network sprawled around them, covering the entire world in a geo-synchronous web. Captain Mergen perked up from his seat on the command chair.

"Report," he said.

"Warp drive signature coming off the planet, inclination 000, bearing 280," replied the sensor operator. "It's exiting warp 50 clicks away."

"Bring it on screen." The main monitor of the ship lit up with the system map; the path of the contact was highlighted. It dropped out of FTL and the dot continued moving. "Switch to visual."

"I can't get a lock." The operator paused and shifted the map. "The object is moving at an alarming rate. 40 clicks away."

"40 clicks? And this is a ship?"

"It's an IPBM sir!" The operator yelled this. The command bridge lit up with warning sirens. "Ten seconds to impact!"

"Evasive maneuvers!" Ricald braced against the command console as the ship accelerated. A bit too late.

The ship was torn in half as the object smashed into it and detonated. A bright flair as the ship burned, the entire ship breaking apart to drift in orbit forever.

Just an hour later, 15 ships jumped into orbit around the planet. The defense network was primed. The ships were armed. Hundreds of massive 'rods' were attached to the sides, tungsten rods nearly 50 meters in length and half a meter in diameter, streamlined and outfitted with fins and guidance computers. But no explosives. One by one, as the ships orbited, they disengaged the rods, dropping them behind into sub-orbital trajectories.

The rods would impact with the force of a thermonuclear warhead.

Somebody can't into economics. It's not like the Strigiforme are going to stop or slow down on making shit; in fact, they're going to make even more and at lower prices to try to compensate for their decaying currency value. All this means is that the Strigiforme are going to probably go into debt to themselves, and are going to have general malaise among the people because they won't be able to afford as much nationalized goodies.
