OOC: once more, with feeling

FILE: SX-1

>_Object: Subject X
>_Classification: E-22 (Being of immense Psi capability)
>_Species: Skytherian (Ancient strain)
>_Age: Currently unknown
>_Description:

Stasis module recovered near [CLASSIFIED] shortly after the (first) disappearance of ARK-1. Subject is dormant but expressing signs of holding tremendous Psi capability. Believed to be Subject Zero of the NSCD, but cannot be fully confirmed. Subject is not believed to be hostile, but as identity cannot be confirmed Subject is to be kept under stasis.

Should Subject X escape from stasis anti-Psi units will attempt to subdue the Subject. Due to the Subject's suspected Psi capabilities, self-destruction of the facility may be authorised in the event of a Level 10 breakout.

>_Researchers log:

We've only been able to probe a fraction of the subject, but we've discovered strong Psi capabilities. Even though the subject is currently dormant, Psi-sensitive equipment is regularly triggered, disabled or even corrupted at seemingly random intervals. We believe this is down to Subject X but can't prove anything while it is in a dormant state. Readings suggest the subject is capable of reaching the so-called "Enerjak point", and as such drastic measures must be taken in event of emergency.

We have reason to believe that Subject X is in fact the Subject Zero discovered by the NSCD Centuries ago (not to be confused with the subject held by the AUF). However surviving data from ARK-1 suggests that there were two Skytherians with these capabilities, however we only had contact with one of them and such there is an element of uncertainty.

I have requested bringing the subject out of Stasis, especially now that ARK-1 has resurfaced (Edit: and dissapeared once more... Interesting). I had hoped to gather data on Subject X's full capabilities, but alas it could be very dangerous. If the subject were to exhibit behaviour similar to [CLASSIFIED] we might not be able to contain it.

In the depths of space, far away from the nearest star, a dark and lonely planet tracked through the darkness. It was a very large and very smooth planet, yet the surface gleamed with the light that came in from the nearest star. Multiple towers--giant structures of metal and crystal--protruded from the surface. And in the distance, a very large black spot. Space bent and warped around it, and a large installation was barely visible wrapping around it. Lights and activity blinked on this structure. The planet was getting closer.

As the planet approached, the installation seemed to react. Multiple missiles, emitting a blood-red glow, shot out from the installation and tracked towards the planet. The first screamed down and detonated, briefly emitting the light of a thousand suns as the antimatter warhead detonated. The second raced after it, but detonated prematurely as a beam shot out from the planet. The metal surface was blinking on, covered in lights and installations. Each missile was deflected, and a massive trench on the planet's surface began glowing with energy. The towers arced with power before a gargantuan blue beam shot out from the ARK station's pole, smashing into the installation. A chain reaction of screeching metal followed as it collapsed into the singularity.

All across WLM, thousands upon thousands of ARK stations simultaneously activated and launched themselves. Some warped to the NeoRoman jump gates, disgorging a hundred thousand ships before striking out at the meager defense forces. Others began consuming nearby planets, producing untold numbers of machines in their vast hulls. Still others began charging several star-sized structures, never touched by the Hexaguthians, structures that reached millions of miles and composes a coherent network.

Defense forces in NGC 1300, unaware of the threat, were quickly overwhelmed by the advanced ships. Vast swaths of NR territory fell before the retreating fleet could muster an effective response. And still more ships were flooding through the gates, no longer capable of being shut down unless the pillars were completed.

The Hierarch orders a full-scale evacuation of all forces and movement capable planets back to the Milky Way, utilizing a final backup Supergate surrounding NGC 1300's core. While it can be shut off without a pillar, this gate is unstable. It will not survive prolonged usage. The gate is spun up and connects to the Milky Way, opening up by pure luck in the middle of seeded territory. A meager military presence accompanies the thousands of refugee ships now flooding through the gates. But many are left behind as the ARK invasion splits apart the NeoRoman territory. L. Jahgrin immediately warps, with his battle fleet, to the exit point in seeded territory to guard the considerable convoy from attack.

Over a small singularity, a lonely research installation is on code red as an ARK fleet approaches. Gladius furiously types commands into a keyboard in the primary psionics lab as the evacuation commences. Alarms blare around him, the room pulsing red as the shields begin to take damage. The room shakes. A guard reaches the door and looks in. "Gladius, the last ship leaves in 2 minutes!" he yells at him. "Abandon the subject! We need to get the data out of here!"

"No!" Gladius yells back. "I'm almost done. Give me... 5... There!" He finishes several commands. The stasis pod's metal covering slides open and the locks on the side begin disengaging. Several tubes disconnect from the side before the mechanism jams. Power malfunction.

"60 seconds Gladius!" The guard yells. He realizes Gladius is a lost cause and makes a run for the last shuttle. Gladius pounds against the Stasis chamber's reinforced glass, furious at the inability of the creature inside to respond. He looks around and picks up a plasma welder. He activates it and begins cutting through the lock mechanism. The station shakes again. The alarms beep faster; shields almost down. He finishes the cut and the mechanism continues. He watches the computer screen as the stasis chamber deactivates.

"Commander, reading strange readings from probes in hostile territory. Sending the data to your console now."

The probe, a tennis-ball sized comms array and sensor suite, had detected an anomaly. A portal had opened up, with thousands of ships exiting it. They had NeoRoman IFF, but few were military ships.

"Hail them from the probe. Inform them that we can provide them shelter if needed."

"Commander, is that approved from Leader?"

"It will be."

[meta-ish]It has been ordered to the whole of the Milky Way Hexaguthian forces to not engage the NeoRomans unless forced. The order was given due to the composition of the fleet, being mainly of decidedly civilian vessels. It was also given in a possibly vain attempt to offer the NR another chance. It is unknown of what has happened in WLM or 1300 by either MW or 1049.[/meta]

OOC: Due to 1049's proximity to the Milky Way, communications have held between them, but are delayed and unreliable.

Code: Select all

Dear Current Director of the Mobian Republic

This may be a bit confusing but hear me to the end and I promise everything will make sense. As you know the Trackuul are the "successors" of the Catians. They are much more fitted and physically better than the Catians, there is no denying it. The Catians as body have been extinct for some time now, and Laruth has been doing it's best to restructure and create a newer and better society. However it has been hotly debated by the Trackuul weather or not they should be revived. There was no doubt that they could do it, they had all the technology that we did, but dozens of questions were raised. Many of which were left unanswered but they took the chance anyway, they were willing to risk the death of their own species to bring back the Catians. The Trackuul are very noble creatures and you should give thanks for having them on your side. So the Catians are back, but only a select few. Those from the first war for Cavnin independence. The ones with the signature three letter codes for names.
I understand that you have been keeping backup DNA banks of Equestrians should they be put to extinction. I know I may be asking a lot but the request is simple. Please, bring back the Princesses. I understand this is a very selfish request but I didn't run the Cavnin Nation to see them dead. I have an agenda in mind for the Strigiforme should you not be able to fulfill that request however.

                                                                                                      Sincerely, CVN.

Redshift has continued to increase exponentially, and the speed of light in Void regions is rapidly approaching zero. The NR warp gates continue to function, but all other communication or transport between all gates between all galaxies is expected to fail within several days.

OOC: I am assuming CVN was contacting the Mobian exile government from their ships who travelled along.
BIC:
//response to message from CVN//
The princesses left for the Pegasus Galaxy when we were forced to evacuate a lare part of our population there to lead the colonies.
Unfortunately, these colonies were since attacked by the Strigiforme, and it is believed the princesses are dead.
We don't have backups of their conciousness, the only thing we can do is bring back their bodies and have them grow up normally, but I highly doubt you will live to see them fully grow up considering Alicorn life cycles, and it is unlikely they will develop the same personality as the originals. We are litterally going to have different people in the same bodies.
//end of message//

The Mobian settlers in IC-10 have decided on a planet to colonize and have landed their drone fleet and the bunker-ship there.
The planet was named "New Equestria" and the colonists are restricting interstellar activity to reduce the risk of being noticed by the local ARK-network before they are ready to defend themselves, if the IC-10 ARKs were actually functional that is - the Mobians did learn their lessons from Draco.

With the collapse of all available intergalactic gates, all major known shipyards are being bombarded. Additionally, the hostile capitals of Mobius and Laruth being the hardest hit due to their high potential for production of enemy combatants. The Strigiforme have purged a star cluster of seeded worlds, and have rebuked several counterattacks. A Hexaguthian attempt to reach into Strigiforme space has met with great success, with 1 super ship and accompanying fleet destroyed by a Ringworld shot, and the other being repulsed by the defences, defence fleets, and the destruction of its comrade.

[meta]Project Blue is nearing completion, decently ahead of schedule. [/meta]

The Super Ship destruction was caused by Vinyl sending 2 fleets to try to find and kill the Barrage Cannons, which are in Strigiforme territory, and constantly moved around to keep their location safe. When he tried to enter Strigiforme territory, the only thing stopping the Ringworld from killing them was lost; their secrecy. Ringworld has effective infinite range; the only limiting factor is that the Strigiforme don't always know where anything of value is, such as a super ship. When one shows up right on their doorstep, however...

"Hey CVN?" a dark furred Catian walked into the room. CVN was sitting in front of a screen reading the message that had been sent back from the MR. "How long have you been in here?" GHS asked walking to stand next to the sorrowful Catian.

"Probably a few hours," his tone was dull almost lifeless and he continued to stare at the screen.

"And this whole time you've been reading that message haven't you? Repeatedly?" GHS reached over and turned off the monitor.

"Yes," CVN immediately turned the monitor back on.

"You know, everyone is having a party, celebrating the fact that they have a second chance to live. Don't you want to be a part of that?" GHS tugged on his friend's shirt collar. CVN didn't respond. "Please, Equestrians really haven't lost their partying abilities."

"I want to go home, not just back to Kaylayly, I want it to be home, I want it to feel like home."

"This is all about the Princess isn't it? I know you put in your letter that you were concerned for both of them but it's just about Princess Luna isn't it?"

"Of course it fucking is!" CVN smashed his fist on the console. "Why! Why do those owl bastards exist!" CVN shouted, his body tensing.

"Buddy, I know she meant a lot to you, but, it was only a matter of time before you were going to die. Then she would be going through the same ordeal you are now." GHS put a hand on CVN's shoulder. "Listen, no species likes change, unfortunately though that's the nature of the universe. We as citizens of this universe have to accept that. Now i'm not telling you to get over it right this second. Just please don't dwell on this, and don't you dare blame it on yourself. Just be glad for now that you have a second chance at life, and remember that the Trackuul have an even harsher agenda than you, just be patient and things will work out. I'm going back to the party, if you want to join please feel free, I know everybody, especially EVA would love to see you there," GHS turned to leave the room, but he stopped at the door, said something, then left. His words were "Good luck, Mr. President"

OOC: Glad you aren't sobbing about how Laruth is an acceptable loss from the Strigiforme/Novan assault.
BIC:

The WLM evacuee forces have arrived intentionally off course from Primaris, currently residing several systems away.

All ships are being deployed to aide ongoing operations.

The ARKs are to manufacture new ships, ministations being arrayed defensively. [meta]Their shields combined with the ARKs' has come together to make one large, powerful shield encompassing all of them. It is equatable to high-end Strigiforme supershields.[/meta]

....
....

"STOP!"

A Psionic scream sounded throughout the entire region of space. Tearing through ships, and echoing throughout the sector. A force not seen for over one hundred years. A power left to accumulate for over a century. Alarms rang throughout the nearby NeoRoman fleet, each and every one screaming the same thing. "Enerjak".

Every single living thing that heard it immediately stopped in it's tracks. A few particularly weak minded individuals even collapsed from the mental pressure.

Time itself slowed down.

...
...

The creature in the stasis chamber searched around. Using the opportunity to evaluate it's situation. It noticed the nearby ARK ships, the intergalactic jumpgate, the frail human trembling before him. He searched the mind of the human, Dr R Gladius, noting how the man had been prepared to die in order to allow his escape.

Memories still hazy, the being formerly know as Subject Zero of the NSCD broke the glass of the stasis chamber with a strong Psionic pulse, leaping out and grabbing Gladius. As time began to speed up, he searched for the nearest ship, detecting a transport vessel departing from the station.

Concentrating he looked for a landing spot inside the vessel. However an explosion knocks the station as ARK forces continue bombarding the area. Slipping slowly into an ethereal state, Zero turned on the ARK ships. Casting his mind beyond his body, slipping through space without moving an inch, he studied the enemy ships.

He launched a bolt of energy, it took no tangible form, flew through no possible path, only to strike the heart of the enemy ship. The ship's core detonated, riddling the ship with pitch black cracks briefly before tearing it to pieces.

Upon the destruction of the first ship. The remaining ARK forces in the sector ceased fire. NeoRoman ships saw this and took the opportunity to slip quietly through the jumpgate and back to safety.

Zero looked once more for the ship departing the station, swiftly locating the cargo bay. Concentrating, he once more slipped into ethereal form, this time bringing the limp form of Gladius with him. Projecting himself through space into the ship, and re-materialising into physical form with a dull ring.

///INTRUDER DETECTED IN CARGO BAY\\\

"IDENTIFY"

A mechanical voice rang out inside the ship.

Zero looked around, noticing a small surveillance camera.

"This is Commander Zero of the NSCD, requesting transportation back to the Milky Way"

A pause. A few minutes passed without a response. And then the intercom came back to life, this time relaying a more human voice. "Zero, I am Admiral Zean of the NeoRoman Third Defense Fleet. We're en-route and attempting to establish a Arch Teleporter connection with your ship to evacuate the crew. Come to the bridge, and I can explain more to you." Even at this distance, Zean's psionic power could be felt.

Outside the ship, multiple singularity beams pierced through the depths of space and made contact with the ARK ships, annihilating them instantly. The ships seemed to awaken from their stupor and continued their attack, pressing towards the intergalactic jump gate ahead. The gate to the Milky Way. Multiple shielding systems surrounded it, and over a hundred ships- several of the moon sized-crowded around the entrance. Two planet-sized battlestations, M-ARK stations, were perched on either end, firing everything they had at the oncoming ARK fleet. They annihilated waves of enemies in quick blasts, but there were tens of thousands more. Sheer brute force.

OOC: Two things. First, all NR command positions are very adept psionics. The highest commanders are generally the most powerful. L. Jahgrin, for example, rivals the AUF psionics naturally, without need for amplification, and is thus immune to psionic corruption. Second, NR is hyper-advanced. Singularity Beams, Graviton Cannons, Wormhole keys, Reflective shields. They're simply being overwhelmed by sheer numbers, no matter how good their defenses and weapons are.

[meta]Strigiforme science teams are attempting to glean some technological advantage from the anomaly which has remained dormant in Strigiforme space. Thus far, they have only gotten a few laser advances from it. Project Blue's theoretical work is complete; manufacture and installation of a Project Blue device on the Ringworld will take some time. [/meta]

A Strigiforme Expeditionary Force is attempting to enter former Laruthian space via Tyylvii and Serpentis, which have survived due to their relative unimportance and heavy defences. Several [Species Name Deleted], captured in the Pegasus Galaxy War have been executed for escape attempts from their prisons. It is unknown how many of the mongrel species are being kept for study, only that many of them were held on the Stauros, which was sacrificed to destroy the anomaly in Strigiforme space.

Dansa med oss, klappa era händer, gör som vi gör, ta några steg åt vänster...

Setinara's phone rang. She pulled it out of her pocket, and looked at the name.

"Why is he calling?" she asked herself. "And why now?"

She answered the call.
"Hello, Alex? What do you-"
She went silent for a moment.
"What? You cant- what- Alex? Hello?"

She turned to the Lord Admiral.
"We may have a problem."
------------------------------------------------------

"So we all agree, then. It's time to go our own way."
Alexander Petrosky, the CEO of TechTron Industries, sat by the famed Round Table with the other top people of the company. They had been discussing the matter for hours, and had finally come to the same conclusion. This war was pointless, and it would be their end if they chose to remain associated with the Hexaguthian Empire.

Alexander looked through his contact list, and found the name he was looking for. The Empress, Alva Setinara. He called her.

"Setinara? I regret to inform you that TechTron Industries will no longer be cooperating with the Zuguthian, pardon me, Hexaguthian Empire any longer. We will allow you to continue using your current weaponry without us suing you, but in return we will take the liberty of using one of your superships to relocate our primary research planet to the Milky Way once again. Thank you for the years of cooperation, and we hope you will have a continued good life, however much of it remains."

"Setinara, not only can we not spare the resources, but they'd be more than likely to be obliterated en route what with the insane readings coming from intergalactic space. If worst comes to worse, Hexalan Corp. is more than capable of buying them out."
