"How's the project progressing?"
"Very well sir, much smoother than expected. We already have half of the thing done, and it won't be much longer until it's finished."
"First good news I've heard since the hijacking's success."
"All of us here at the facility are grateful for your... contribution."
"Just know, that thing better be worth all this trouble."
"Trust me, sir, it will be."
"Keep me apprised then."
"Yes sir."

In just over a month the Heartwriter will be performing its first live-fire tests. And, behind the Lord of Admiral's back, they have taken the liberty of attempting to dismantle some of the NeoRoman equipment. For minimal risks, the disassembly will be performed on the opposite side of surface of the planet the research facility orbits.

Chancellor Yiet had just received his report that the first production run of 15 Broadsword class battlecruisers have been completed. 5 to the 1st Fleet, 5 to the 2nd Fleet, and 5 to the 3rd Fleet. The dreadnought was top priority, with 90% of industrial effort focused on it. The other 10% was focused on the Broadswords.

Back at Deepspace 1, the five Operatives of Project Blackstar were training vigorously, regaining skills lost. Tellaeya was presiding.

"The reason that you died while assassinating my clone was because you failed to evade. That's not your fault, the Novans pulled you out of warpspace. We're developing a ship especially for this team. Hyperdrives, anti-scramblers, good stuff. However, that doesn't take away the fact that the team was messy. We need to clean it up."

The clones of Project Blackstar listened, nodded, then continued training.

Following an incident in the X-3A Training Facility over Antioch, a full military lock-down has been established on all high-security facilities. DNA verification, retinal scanning, and Psionic mapping will now be mandatory for all ships entering or leaving these stations. All ships with unauthorized psionic signatures or lifeforms aboard will be detained; ships that resist detainment will be destroyed. All personnel entering these stations and facilities will now be DNA verified with a data-base under high security. Failure to comply will not be tolerated.

-Aboard Helix 73 Military Research Station-
"God, what a mess," said Karen, disgusted at the mass of red stuff. "We have to use this?"

"Yes," replied another scientist. "The DNA should still be intact." Karen extracted a small mass of red pulp from the first suit and placed it in the sequencer. She shut it and locked it before activating it. A few seconds passed.

"Seems like they were trying to avoid leaving DNA behind, from the looks of it."

"Didn't seem to work with these two." As the scientist said this, the sequencer stopped and outputted a data feed. Karen grabbed a data-pad and brought up the feed.

"We got the DNA code, but no matches in the data-base."

"That's impossible."

"The closest it found were genetically engineered soldiers we experimented with 50 years ago. But it's only an 80% match."

"Eighty percent? Any genetic abnormalities?" A pause.

"None. The DNA is free from any genetic defects."

"Holy shit." The scientist pulled up a data report. "Genetically perfect?"

"And superior to humans in every way. Psionic potential is almost guaranteed." Karen typed in a few notes on the computer. "Send a request to the council to get us one of the Novan's cloning machines. We should be able to make our own copy and study it."

"I'll send the request now."

At Deep Space 1, Tellaeya was worried. He had known for a while that two of the operatives hadn't been completely eliminated. He also knew that they could be cloned. However, he found solace in the fact that the clones would have no memories whatsoever, other than the fact that they worked for Lusten Krangax. A fake name that Tellaeya used to get them to obey until their memories were implanted, and the memories were untouchable. They were in Deep Space 1's vault. The clones would be completely useless. It was a failsafe, for this exact situation.

In orbit over Antioch, Mayala stared at the reports. One part of the puzzle solved, it seemed.

//CSV Belfast - Communications Relay//
-Mark,

We found your missing hospital ship. Floating in an asteroid field in Gamma Altaar. Crew dead, patients dead, and several personnel missing entirely. We're towing her home now.

Weapons impacts indicate Strigiforme, but tactics and internal sensors logs show standard boarding tactics, no different from half the galaxy's.

//END//

Sitting back, the commander ran her hands through her hair. The hospital ship Tellaeya was on, apparently hijacked by Strigiforme, but he didn't seem to have ended up in their hands. This was getting too convoluted.

"Commander. Antioch control just gave us clearance to a landing pad near the embassy."

"I'll be there in a moment. And yes, Captain, you can show off to the NeoRomans a bit, I know you want to."

"Understood, Commander."

As she returned to the CIC, visual displays showed the upper cloud layers over the NeoRoman capital. As the ship descended, the cloud cleared, displaying the city below.

Approaching the designated zone, Valereia dropped slowly, her pilot showing off just a little as she set the massive ship down almost exactly in the center of the landing field.

"Hope you enjoy your stay, Commander. Apparently Victus is being pulled from extranational duties."

The diminutive figure smiled up at her XO. "If I know Mark, Victus'll be in retirement as soon as he sets foot on Novus. Au revoir, Captain."

The AI seems to have found a way to create a hover vehicle, and it's using those instead of wheels. Further questioning of the AI revealed that she has a strong desire to learn about the universe, and the physics behind it.

-Message from: L. Jahgrin to: M. Korriman-

I'm sure by now you've been informed of the incident that occurred with the X-3A training station by Mayala. If not, let me fill you in on the details.

X-3A was infiltrated by five agents of unknown origin. All weapons and armor systems cannot be traced, as they are built by suppliers all over the sector. The agents entered the training facility and assassinated Telleaya, before attempting escape. Mayala and I followed their ship, Mayala pulled them out of FTL, and we boarded their ship. At the end of it, we captured two, killed the other three. They were highly trained and extremely gifted psionically. Of the three we killed, nothing was useful; their suits had incinerated all biological material. Of the two captured, both committed suicide, but due to a suit malfunction, their remains were not properly incinerated and a sizable amount remained. We were able to sequence the DNA of these two.

In order to aid in the investigation, I request that you deliver one of your cloning machines to us as soon as possible. We believe that creating a clone of the agents would be highly beneficial, especially since your cloning techniques preserve both personality and memories, regardless of the state before cloning. You will still maintain control over the device and it will return to your space as soon as we finish.

Sincerely,
Head of Security Council L. Jahgrin
-END MESSAGE-

-Outside Novan Commonwealth Embassy, Antioch-

Rowan remained on the bench outside the embassy, scanning the sky. Several maglev trains passed by in glass and steel tubes, whizzing by at extreme speeds across the city. He stood up as he noted a large white and red gravlev vehicle approach and set down on the concrete in front of the embassy. He walked over to the vehicle as Mayala and his entourage stepped out. The escort vehicle whizzed away towards another area for another government shuttling mission. Rowan stopped a few feet from Mayala. "Commander Mayala," he said, handing over a small book. Foreigner's Guide to Antioch, it was titled. Mayala took it and looked at Rowan slightly confused. "It's customary to offer books as a gift to visitors," Rowan said, "And you'll need that particular book."

"Ah, I understand," Mayala replied, stowing the book away. Rowan gestured to her and they began walking to the embassy's entrance.

"I heard about what happened with X-3A."

"You did?"

"Word travels fast. Council is making sure all high security facilities cannot be infiltrated again." Rowan paused in his speech for a second. "Sorry you had to be involved in that."

"It was... tense, but we can move past it."

"Alright then. I hope we can make your stay in Antioch a little more pleasant."

-Message from M. Korriman to L. Jahgrin-

We can transfer over a cloning system in twelve hours; the nearest facility with one available is a tad busy.

I did recieve a slightly abbreviated - and highly classified - report about what happened. If they attempt an attack again, you can get psi-jammers; we'll happily send you a few.

Hope my significant other enjoys her time on your world.

-Mark

- - -
Looking over the brief report in the ambassador's office, May nodded; Victus, for his faults, left behind a clean report.

Sitting back, she frowned up at the ceiling. There was something... off about the NeoRomans in the building. They were almost... uneasy?

That did make sense, though. Someone just got assassinated right over their heads.

-NeoRoman Space Lane 651-ZS, just above Antioch-

Through the absolute darkness of this space tumbled an array of objects. Debris, asteroids, the occasional ship. Space lane 651 was the fastest route to the industrial world of Matza, but as a consequence of the Imperium war, it was a hazard to all spacecraft. 651 was slated to be rebuilt and redone by the infrastructure upgrade as soon as possible. But until then, few corporations dare use it.

Unfortunately, the Holecene Shipping Corporation did use it. Holecene was the largest shipping company in NeoRome, responsible for nearly fifty percent of all shipping with thousands of contracts to it's name. At this particular moment, the super-freighter Duravell was traversing the space lane. Duravell had traversed the lane hundreds of times, and with it's array of laser turrets and it's shield generator, no harm ever came to it. It was Holecene's biggest ship, clocking in at a kilometer long, and their biggest investment.

As it approached the termination point to 651, a shadow fell upon the bridge. Their view ahead was blocked by a piece of debris from the Imperium war, and it was headed directly at them. The ship fired several lasers at the piece of debris, trying to break it up or move it, to no avail. This piece was big, and it was travelling fast.

The Duravell began turning away from the wreck as it approached, and almost succeeded in getting away when it struck. It smashed into the and set off a massive explosion in the cargo bay, instantly killing everyone aboard. The flight field failed and the ship began to fall towards the planet, debris still streaming away from the impact point. The explosion briefly illuminated the wreck as it careened away, showing a series of letters upon the old piece of hull.

It read Emperor's Will

The Strigiforme have begun a programme to upgrade the superdreadnought Aiigaiion, which is the largest ship the Strigiforme have. Additionally, some minor breakthroughs with laser technology which decrease power use by 5% have prompted a large scale upgrade of planetary defences. The order in which the planets are being upgraded is as of yet a tightly held secret. The 3 new battlefleets are roughly half done, with the hulls nearly finished. The Leader of the Strigiforme, who recently assumed his position, has called for a meeting with his NeoRoman counterpart. He has issued that the Heirarch will be given diplomat status despite his most vile crimes, including Treason and Espionage, and that he will not be arrested upon arrival.

High speed interception calls for a high performance fighter. The leasons learned with the Redclaw came to a good result with the new Interceptor : Banshee. The swift Banshee fighter is the Darkstar fastest design. Very fast and maneuverable, it is able to hunt down bombers before they can deliver their payloads with unsurprising effectiveness. The Banshee pays for this agility by sacrificing heavy shielding and armor plating, but does not compromise on armament - two missile batteries and four gunmounts comprise the ship's respectable armament.
Spoiler:
Image

Name: Banshee
Class: Interceptor
Systems: 4x M39-Raptor [Light repeating plasma weapon, excellent at intercepting warheads] ,2x missile pods [10 missiles each]

Engines : Redclaw was a success in terms of speed. This interceptor upgraded the S.T.A.R-Burst engines to create a MK II version of it,giving more speed at a lower fuel comsumption
After the Open Evaluation period,it will be put to full production.

The construction of the new Gemini carrier is beggining. This will form the first real carrier battlegroup of the Corporation.
