The fleet didn't respond, and split in two. The Abaddon lead the second group with the disrupter ships, and they were . Seconds later, another Torus portal opened up in the center of the patrol fleet. It was open for merely seconds, but in that time another ship came out. The portal closed, and the distinct signal of an active Tachyon-Subspace bomb was emanating from the small ship. The ship glowed and detonated ((This is a very large bomb, not simply a warhead)), and the fleet opened fire. The FTL disrupter ships disgorged a beam of energy at the gate, attempting to overload and disrupt the system. The battle begun, and Abaddon approached the Repulse.

Repulse was a class leader - a three hundred year-old starship, first of her type. It came as a surprise - abliet a brief one - to the AUF commander when she flipped end-for-end, pouring on the acceleration, and began maneuvering like a light frigate; dancing towards the AUF ships, never in one place long enough to be hit. What few shots impacted barely caused a blip in her quantum barriers; in turn, she dived into the enemy fleet, delivering a full magnetohtdrodynamic and fusion-lance salvo to one of the ships.

The remaining patrol fleet ships - two destroyers and an artillery cruiser - began firing, both destroyers leaping forwards to match their sister and the cruiser unloading her cannon, 1400mm Subspace Inductive shells tearing across space.

Repulse jinked clear, burning towards the JumpGate; it warmed, cheerfully ig oring the FTL disruptors focussed on it, and flung the dewtroyer across space; and in the same moment, replaced it with the Novan Star Guards.

The newly-arrived fleet needed nothing more than a brief scan to select the Abbadon as their target; si ulta eously, all thirty-two ships fired in unison on the AUF battleship.

Deaigned by Atlantis Fleet Snipyards in 2450, the primary line of Novan destroyers is described accurately as the very limit of what a spaceframe can be made to do. Possessing four fixed Accelerated Fusion Drives and four gimballed Hybrid Fusion Drives, these vessels can accelerate at more than sixty gravities for brief periods, and owing to a complex set of thrusters and modified flight fields, alter course andmmaneuver in a manner that casts doubt on the existence of inertia.

To complement their astonishing maneuverability, the ships were originally armed with four spinal-mount mass drivers. In recent years, these have been upgraded to six Phoenix Cannon and four Fusion Lances, giving the vessel the firepower of a battlecruiser.

These vessels are never seen outside Novan control, however; as none have been built for commercial sale, and none have been retired from service, they remain the sole property of the Commonwealth Star Navy.

OOC. Fen, if I may, I'd like to point out the derpyness of attacking with a battleship (Abbadon - capital ship), whe you know your opponent is specifically termed a Capital Ship Destroyer.

And before calling BS, jump drives can only be messed up by subspace distortions on a large scale; and even that will just cause navigation *, and the jump itself cannot be prevented externally.

Abaddon had tricks up its own sleeve. The ship pulsed slightly, and the weapons fire began reflecting off the ship, rebounding back to the ships firing upon it. But several explosions rocked its hull, and with a flash, the Abaddon jumped into FTL towards a waiting Torus portal a few light years away. It exited FTL just in front of it and went through, the portal closing behind it.

Almost simultaneously, another anomaly flash heralded the arrival of another AUF fleet. This one was three times as large as the last. The Novan commanders began switching their focus to account for the new fleet but stopped short when the second fleet began firing upon the first. One of the FTL disrupter ships detonated violently as a salvo from the Rekindling battleship--head of the second fleet-- smashed into it. The first fleet turned and began firing upon the second fleet as well.


Garan sighed as he watched from afar. What a waste of resources, and for what? Life extension? He connected his ship to the Rekindling remotely and opened up a communication channel to the Novan fleet from the battleship. "This is Admiral Yakunovich. Where's the Regulator?"

The Novans began full-scale nuclear, subspace, and magnetohydrodynamic bomardment of the first fleet. Aboard the Prometheus, currently pounding a cruiser into scrap, Lord Admiral Meinholl opened a link to the second fleet.

"This is Admiral Meinholl of the Star Guards. My tha ks for your timely arrival, but can you explain why you're shooting at your own forces, and why said forces attacked our ships in the firs place?"


OOC: The Novans would happily give you the required knowledge and treatments for extended lifespans and/or strohger immune systems, Fen. You could, you know, ask.

OOC: It's more wanting to protect investment into the super-psionics: Make them effectively immortal, and take the cloning-tech that can make copies without true degradation of the psionic ability and mental ability. The Novans would definitely not agree to that.

Garan was quick with an answer. "Rogue fleet. We were researching into increasing psionic power directly." As he said this, the final battleship of fleet one was destroyed; the rest were completely disabled or destroyed. "We reached a critical point with one subject, who escaped containment and promptly took control of multiple highly advanced ships, the Regulator one. We've followed them here."

The fleet assembled, grouping around the jumpgate; after a series of bright flashes, they vanished, replaced by salvagers and cargo ships bound for the Novan wrecks.

Again, MR flux scanning has been established to be capable of avoiding psionic obfocusation, jamming and similar techniques not specifically directed at flux, which don't exist because no one knows the MR can detect flux even.
But yeah, flux scanning is pretty inaccurate, so editing so that I can only GUESS it's the super soldiers.
And @Error psionic jamming doesn't create "nothing", it cancells out a specific signature.

Edit: changed my post to no longer say that I KNOW it's them. But from the strenght of the signal I can say that it's either the AUF super soldiers or some unknown extremely powerful psionic artifact.
