You aren't bringing colonization technology into the equation. Colony ships would likely have hundreds, if not thousands of people, and tons of supplies. They would erect shield domes very quickly to shield from hostile atmospheres. They would build quickly with the help of robots. Terra-forming would be a top priority if the planet was slightly inhospitable. People from overcrowded planets would be dying to get to these places. I highly doubt that they would expand so slowly when the technology is great enough for most of the world to be globalized within a few months. It's like saying you dropped a hundred people onto Earth with renaissance technology, and a thousand years later there's only a small village.

Re: A question about time
When we first traveled dimensionally, we put our all into it. Literally. Even pellets were used because the bone and remains could be compressed into fertilizer. That's the equivilent of taking a dump to help colonize Mars. Then we encountered the First. We killed them. We then expanded using their wrecked infrastructure. I assume Humanity will go along the same sort of path.

Well remember that the goal is not to build a second Earth. A colony will most probably be a big metropolis on a planet with loads of mines around to justify it's existence...

Well, once they're there, they can't really leave. They can just send out resources they have plenty of for some they don't have, making trade embargoes an effective way to combat rouge colonies.

Anyway, I don't think a conclusion was really reached on this. Even the 'official lore' topic wasn't all that decisive on the exact timeline.

Re: A question about time
Ehh, I have a timeline going from 2145 to something like 3500 and the Humans barely have the technology described here. Although, I included a lot of wars, diseases, and Luddites, so honestly anywhere from 2300 onward would probably make sense, depending on how you presented it.

Re: A question about time
Well in fact by comparing stuff humans prob reach a space civilization status around 2500-2600, FC is somewhere around there up to 3000

Re: A question about time
Can we do something here?
I'd like to ask for an official reset of the FC universe/timeline. You keep your nation and some events, but things like the Conspiracy/ and whatnot never happened.
Then we can put a timeline up. I'm fine with about 2500, maybe 2300.

Re: A question about time
I'm fine with that and I guess LS has left, so we'll have to reset any RP timeline anyway. (*)Professor Fenway wrote:Can we do something here?
