"Hex, you and your posse stay aft of bulkhead... 53, please. I'm at 21 with JAG, trying to sort our solar panels out, but there's no safe way to get through the breached passages."
Laura came over the link. "Be aware; while we could, in theory, bring the auxiliary reactor back online, there is a... slight... chance of wildcat destabilization. And that's terrible. And I feel I should ask, what is your official rank within the Expanses military?"

"Well, Laura, I can't really, you know, secret super soldier programs gotta keep their secrets. But let's leave it at high."

Zuguth was essentially just standing around pressing buttons. The two QIs did what would usually be his job, and he felt a bit useless. Or was it just the hunger he felt?
"Right, guys," he said, "I'll go explore the ship, see if I can find anything we can use. Food and stuff, and water."

"Thanks, Zuguth. I'll see what I can find up here." replied Val, eyes still on the QIs' holograms.

"Containment breach," JAG said. He brought up several holograms on the console. "Auxiliary power bay A-Three hermetic seal broken by unknown contaminants. Sector seven contaminated. Sealing off the area." The holograms shifted and showed a small map of the upper ship. A few rooms and a hallway were highlighted in red. "Sector seven sealed. Contamination contained."
"Contamination?" Laura asked, before Val could speak.
"Unknown. Contaminant possesses extreme bio-mutagenic properties and traces of sentience. Contaminant is known for high energy density and corrupting effects. I'd advise you stay away from Sector seven."
"And sector seven is?" Val asked.
"Sector seven is classified information," JAG replied, in a very distinctly mechanical tone. Not his usual voice. "Realigning solar panels now." His voice had returned.
The ship slightly shook as the panels began to shift and extend.

Val stared at JAG.
"As de facto XO of this vessel, such as it is, I feel knowing what might kill us and why it's in sector seven specifically could be handy in avoiding death. Hexalan, if you're still on the line, and if you're an Admiral or up, you're de facto commander here."
Laura began her own, discreet and passive scans of the general area of Sector Seven.

"Well, then I suppose you should start calling me 'sir'." Hexalan kept a serious tone in her delivery. "So, JAG, you going to tell the lady or do I have to make it an order?"
OOC: According to the Hexalani laws of succession, Hexalan holds the highest possible rank, Lord of Admirals.

Assuming that's military commander on chief, you rank Val (barely) and Laura (by substantially more).

"Classified information." The mechanical tone again, to both Hexalan and Val. "Under section 675-HGC of the Intra-Universal Security act, the function of Sector seven and knowledge of the contaminant within is classified level Psi. Access of the sector and the contained ZZ-Class is strictly prohibited to biological organisms, quantum artificial intelligence, and bio-mechanical intelligent beings. All knowledge of the ZZ-Class contained within is strictly prohibited due to the corrupting effects ZZ-Class has inflicted upon living organisms, quantum artificial intelligence, and bio-mechanical intelligent beings. Access is denied. This clause cannot be trumped by any means under any circumstance." He paused. "As such Laura, I cannot allow you to run those scans."
The ship shifted somewhat, and sector 7 became obfuscated. The scans could not proceed.

OOC: Well, technically Bossy is ranked Kommissar, which is Colonel equivalent.

Val pressed several controls, ejecting JAG from his slot, and held the cube at eye level, glaring at it.
"You're going to inform Hexalan and myself of the nature of the contaminant in Sector seven, or we'll disable you and do it ourselves. Laura?"
"Subspace jammer ready. Firewalls active. Oh, and JAG, my friend, you are directly threatening the safety of the current crew by not informing us of the dangers of S7. This goves me authorization to disable or destroy you as necessary." Laura's avatar smiled slightly. "I 'd rather not."

"Uhm, I get the feeling, that's not exactly JAG speaking, but rather a system message from the ship or something hardwired into the hardware?"

Re: Futurecraft: Macropolitical Personification Iteration #3
"Something tells me that might be in some way my fault. Anyways, I'm coming up on the next bulkhead, it'll be sealed shortly. I'd say if you need my help I can be right over, but I don't really think that's possible right now."
OOC: Lord of Admirals is the highest possible rank in the Hexalani armed forces, government, and is only superseded by the CEO on the Corporate Council, the CC having no direct authority over the state. Hexalan was just an Admiral, but as there are no other Hexalani officers available, she has been automatically promoted to LoA. If contact were to be made (which it won't, I assure you) with an officer of original rank greater than her original rank, they would become acting Lord of Admirals.
JAG cannot be made to speak about the likes of Section 7 without at least 2 members of the Galactic Security Counsel present, of which none are present, well, in a functioning capacity (looks at Val, Zuguth, and self). Perhaps, when our lives are not in immediate danger, we work on jogging our memory, that is, if whatever is in the Milky Way doesn't already.

Re: Futurecraft: Macropolitical Personification Iteration #3
Strigiforme had been wandering. He had walked around a lot of the ship, eventually finding an exposed heating element on which he could cook his meat. After doing so, he continued walking, stumbling upon other voices. He saw a diminutive figure ahead, talking near a square hole in the wall with a small device seemingly inserted. The figure suddenly appeared more alert, priming a gun, and Strigiforme knew he had been found. Tossing a combination frag-stun grenade, he flew as fast as he could, arriving just after it detonated. He grabbed the cube from the slot, threw it in his rucksack, and ran for the brief moment the figure was distracted.

Gathering herself, Val sighted on the owl's wing, firing an extended burst. Noting the flicker of a shield, she reached out mentall, the wafped subspace energy of telekinetics grabbing one wing and yanking it abruptly backwards.
OOC, while mind-affecting psionics fail on the psi-null birds, good ol' telekinesis still works.
