[Prototype]

"Ash to any living system engineer, we have a faulty power conduit on Deck 3"

"Theta reporting, I am close to the problem, I will be there ASAP"

Theta begins to make his way to the faulty power conduit, but a malfunctioning bulkhead blocks his path. The bulkhead is opening and closing in a seemingly irregular pattern, the open/close buttons have no effect on it. After about 3 minuted of observation, Theta believes he has worked out the doors pattern, and makes a run through it. His leg fails him, it had been damaged during the initial impact, and Theta falls to the ground, just as the bulkhead slams down on his left leg, trapping him.

Gulan exited the access tunnel near a malfunctioning bulkhead and a distraught biomech, if it was possible for a biomech to be distraught. He tapped the display next to the door to no avail, then tapped it harder with an elbow spike. The screen shattered and Larha ripped it off of the wall, discarding it next to Theta, who continued to fidget and argue quietly with himself. The door's main power supply was exposed and promptly removed. Hopefully the door wouldn't guillotine and crush the machine's leg. It didn't. Gulan lifted the door enough to free Theta's leg and helped him up.

Ash looked up as the helm began to beep, where it had previously been off. Must be malfunctioning. Should have known. He got up to kick it, but halted when he noticed the screen. Two confirmations of messages. After clearing his rank and authorization again (Can't we disable those?) he identified their source. One from a space marine, and one from an AI unit. So they did survive. And I thought the ship was all to myself. He tested his leg, which stung a little but could hold weight, and left the bridge toward the malfunctioning conduit.

Theta grunts a thanks at Gulan, continuing on his path towards the faulty system.
His leg had been damaged, not enough to immobilise him but enough to create a severe limp.

"Need a hand robot?" Gulan asks

"Not yet, keep going to the power conduit, see what you can do, I'll catch up"

"Is there anyone else helping us?"

"Ash's biometrics just registered at a waypoint not too far from here, I assume he is on his way to either here or the engine room, and three inferior repair machine have been deployed"

"Right, can you tell me what is wrong with it?"

"Negative"

Gulan continues towards the power conduit, Theta limps after him.

"Left leg integrity at 60%" flashes in Theta's virtual mind

"I noticed, now all I need is a spare servo unit and a blowtorch, perhaps I can salvage one from an inferior machine"

Pyrrith awoke with a slow groan of pain. His various wall mounted weapons had been scattered on the floor, some covering him. He pushed the ones on him off, and uprighted himself. He could hear that the ship had active occupants, but none in the corridors adjacent to him. He checked his walls for damage, then set himself to cleaning, repairing, replacing the guns on his wall....

Ash paused, and the reentry alarms suddenly blared out around him. Stunned by the turn of events, he shouted out, "WE'RE ENTERING AN ATMOSPHERE?! WITH NO NAVIGATIONAL CONTROL?! THOSE IDIOTS!" He was only a few corridors away from the bridge, and he dashed back there. Sure enough, a massive planet loomed ahead. One thing registered on his mind- It's mostly water. If we don't hit land, we'll drown. He had it in his mind to delay it when the ship shuddered, and flames began to cover the view panels. He sighed, and closed all the shutters. He then went back to the navigation panel and pulled up the course plotting map. Current course to some small island in one of the larger oceans. He noticed several inconsistencies in the flight path, and duly corrected them. He even thought they might land safely when an explosion sounded, and Ash was thrown against the wall.

On deck three, alarms began to sound.

"Shit, that's the emergency landing siren"

Theta ducked down on the floor, hoping the navigation systems would compensate for the lack of a second engine.

Wait, the nav systems were on...

Shit.


Something explodes in the ship, from behind Theta, the shock wave isn't powerful but it bowls him over.

Dammit, whose flying this thing.

Theta get up to his feet, his damaged leg struggling to cope. Theta remotely hacks into the external cameras mounted on the ships hull.

He knew they where they were going to land, two seconds before the ship impacted.

Theta was thrown against the wall, hitting so hard he was blinded, hopefully temporarily.

Theta hears a shout from somwhere in the ship, and a message pops up in his mind:

Damage detected, entering recovery mode.

[Error]

Glitch appeared on the bridge.

"Ash. glad you made it. Can you manually pilot this bird down?"

As Pyrrith was cleaning and repairing his guns, the ship began vibrating, then violently shaking. The guns fell to the ground, and Pyrrith gave a low hoot of frustration. He then proceeded to notice that the temperature of the room was increasing uncomfortably quickly. Luckily, the toilet module, designed by Pyrrith especially for his bulk was made of leftover hull plating, making it a crude escape pod. He glided in, grabbed his hat and whip, and hoped the sudden danger didn't kill him.

Theta found himself in a dark cramped room, the walls seemed cold, and too solid to be real, he had to be in cyberspace.

Words flashed across his mind:
ACESSING MEMORY BANK 1

Theta knew the drill, he was going to be forced to watch all of his memory, including past traumas. He hated every moment of it.

He watched his construction, he watched the old master grant him life, he watched the construction of his brothers.
He watched their war, he watched his brothers die, he watched as he hid in fear, from the mechanical terror which so brutally dispatched his brethren. He watched it find him. He heard screams. Ma-k f--r,

Exiting recovery mode.

Theta Awoke, screaming, completely oblivious of what had just happened.
Then it hit him, both metaphorically and literally.
Theta didn't know what it was, but it was heavy, and they were falling, very fast.

Moving to the secondary holotank on the bridge, he could see now what "TH3 FUCK 15 G01NG D0WN UP 7H3R3" as he witnessed Ash trying to prevent death of all personnel via a crash-landing.

Ash sprang up, promptly smacked himself, then ran to the helm. Everything was red... he could hardly see. He wiped some blood out of his eyes and then manually overrode the piloting controls, (I.E kicked it repeatedly) only nodding at Glitch. He noticed a large lump of green from the console, and the ship was dropping toward it, fast. He opened all hatches, paused to wipe more blood out of his eyes, then unfurled all of the flaps and landing gear stuff. The ship lurched, and at that moment Ash fell over and passed out.

Gulan registered a rapid change in pressure and a ping of pain in his damaged joints. Could feel the hull vibrating and the subsequent shockwave that rippled through the reactor room. He also heard the mechanical crunch and metallic clang of something large, heavy, and probably Theta being smashed against a wall. He pocketed the microservo he was examining and exited the supply compartment. The biomech was slumped against the back wall, away from the generator. Theta's leg had sustained even more damage, the internal mechanisms were completely exposed and dark sludge oozed from its core. Various other external damages had been inflicted on Theta. There was no way Gulan could preform a single-handed field repair with no supplies or spare parts. He needed to get to the Assault room.

Larha looked at the malfunctioning reactor. He was petty sure that they weren't going to need it much longer; the vibration could be caused by two things: a ship battle in which they were losing horribly or fast atmospheric insertion. Either would probably result in the destruction of the ship. No matter. It was only a small walk to the mech storage area. Gulan picked grabbed Theta by the ankles and dragged it out of the room, a trail of black sludge and green liquid snaking behind. He thumbed the side of his throat, activating his communication device.

"Need medical assistance in the Assault Room. Theta's damaged and leaking cyborg jelly, might have ruptured something biological."

They entered the vehicle storage room of the ship. Deactivated mechs and tanks surrounded the walkway. Gulan dragged Theta to the heavy armor repair/refit facility in the corner of the room, guarded by empty marine battledress. Larha opened the door, strapped Theta to the workbench, and began running diagnostics. A mechanic drone began fixing the biomech's leg, guided by Gulan. He wished there was a robotics engineer present.

The vibrations increased, gravity failed and everything that wasn't strapped down began bouncing around. Gulan closed the facility's door and manually locked the emergency shutters. He turned in the direction of the table to see Theta's metal corpse regain life and unleash a loud metallic scream. The ship suddenly slowed its descent and the mechanic drone snapped its ceiling mounts. It hit Theta and very nearly hit Gulan as it fell to the floor and rolled to the foremost wall.

Jake had just finished repairing his grenade launcher, when the ship suddenly started shaking and vibrating and everything.
He looked out through a window, and saw the blue planet below.
"Holysh*tholysh*tholysh*t this is not good, not good at all."
He then tried to run towards the vehicle bay, but the shakes threw him off balance and made him land head first on the floor, passing out.
