Re: New idea for planet shapes.
Hmm, that's true. One thing we've never really addressed is how to balance freedom of movement with the ability to actually find things. The only way players will stumble into one another on a regular server is to keep the area relatively confined. If the entire world is open, and if there are front...

Re: New idea for planet shapes.
Yes, that's been the plan since forever. However, there are some impossible to avoid issues with it, like distortion and seams which require teleporting around and concealing. It's much more complicated to render, and will necessarily warp as you change altitude. You won't be able to dig too deep or...

Re: New idea for planet shapes.
Yeah, pretty much magic is the way gravity is going to work. The scales are so different, there is no way real physics are going to work here. But what does everyone think about the rules for crossing edges? If you walked off the edge of a block on the threshold, would you expect to fall a distance,...

Re: New idea for planet shapes.
Okay, you remember back when we had that big debate over projected spheres vs. solid cubes for planet shapes? Spheres won because we couldn't come up with an intuitive ruleset for how to handle gravity at the edges. It can't be an instant flip at the corner because sometimes you will have concave co...

New idea for planet shapes.
I discussed it a bit on the main thread, but I want to get everyone else's oppinion. The gist is that is might be possible for cube planets to work, even at the corners. The problem with the cube model has always been that gravity will behave funny at the corners and by conforming to an axis-aligned...

Yeah yeah, I'll be more active soon. Back on the subject. Is or is not tekkit collecting login credentials? Also where is this coming from? Throw me a bone, I've been out of the loop.Iv121 wrote:Yea about time you post something Frost. there's a lot of stuff going on recently ...

How much control do we have over this forum's appearance?
There are a couple contrast issues I've identified, and I'd like to increase the opacity of these content blocks if we can. Really hard to read stuff against the background.
